The countdown to The Resale Shop’s 57th annual Couturier event is officially on – and the anticipation for this signature fashion-forward fundraiser builds with each passing day.
Next month’s event, the largest fundraiser of the year for The Resale Shop, benefits the National Council of Jewish Women St. Louis (NCJWSTL) and its programs to improve the lives of women, children and families in the metro area.
The nonprofit store relies 100% on donations from the community. Director of retail operations Jessica Duneman notes new inventory hits the sales floor daily. She adds the store receives approximately 6,200 pieces of clothing, from high-end designer labels to mall brands, as well as accessories, jewelry and items for the home, each year.
“The Resale Shop is really in a category all on its own,” Duneman said. “We offer the best resale at price points anyone can afford in a warm and inviting setting. We truly have something for everyone as we offer clothing and accessories for men, women and children, as well as a lovely housewares and home décor section.”
The four-day, in-store Couturier event, from Oct. 13 to 16, will be dedicated to designer-only merchandise, from clothing to shoes to purses and other accessories.
A VIP Preview on Wednesday, Oct. 13, the first day of Couturier, is sold out; but later that evening, from 4 to 8 p.m., attendees can shop with a $10 admission at the door. Admission is free on Thursday, Oct. 14, and Friday, Oct. 15. On Saturday, Oct. 16, shoppers receive 25% off Couturier merchandise. The event is co-chaired by Faith Berger, Phyllis Langsdorf and Sheri Sherman.
For safety, shoppers and staff must wear face masks and maintain social distancing inside the store.
Founded by the NCJWSTL in 1941 as The Council Shop, the store was renamed The Resale Shop in 2011, when it moved to its current location at 295 N. Lindbergh Blvd. in Creve Coeur. The store, which sees thousands of loyal customers every year, is celebrating a milestone anniversary in 2021.
“Eighty years! We have operated in several locations and even under a different name throughout the years, but The Resale Shop has stood the test of time by continuing to do what we do best: provide top quality clothing at the best prices,” Duneman said. “We are excited to be operating out of a building we own six days a week and look forward to the new opportunities our newly launched E-commerce site will bring!”
