Imagine this: almost 6 acres of space for people to gather, play, eat, drink and celebrate – that’s the idea behind Armory STL, which will open its doors to the public this afternoon.

On tap for the venue’s first “First Friday” celebration are plenty of food and beverage options, with a menu that features St. Louis-centric items and comfort food such as toasted ravioli boards, wings with Pappy’s sauce and more. Interactive games and live music from Up All Night STL are also planned.

Billed as “the biggest bar in STL” and the area’s largest indoor entertainment venue, the 250,000-square-foot property was originally the home of the 138th Infantry of the Missouri National Guard. Located in Midtown St. Louis at 3660 Market St., the building, which was completed in 1938, served a number of uses over the years, including as a multi-sports complex and a concert venue.

The new Armory STL’s flexible indoor space accommodates a dining area, six bars (featuring more than 90 tap handles), a 60-foot stage for live entertainment, dozens of interactive games, a two-story slide, six giant TV screens and more.

Today’s opening is set for 4 p.m., with opening day festivities planned to last until 2 a.m. Entry to the Armory is free, with food and drink available for purchase. There is also a cost to play some games, particularly during peak times.

There is parking available adjacent to the Armory in the West Lot by the Goodwill building and the East Lot by the main entrance. In addition, there are free, designated overflow parking spots at IKEA after 8 p.m., with free shuttle pick up at the north end of the lot. There is also a dedicated rideshare pick-up and drop-off location on the north side of the Armory building off Market Street.

Today’s opening marks the first phase of the development at the Armory. An additional five venues are planned within the property, with openings set to happen through spring 2023. Plus, the Armory will be the future home of the St. Louis Tennis Hall of Fame, a destination that will honor the area’s most impactful players, as well as significant contributors to the game.
