Six St. Louis Women to Receive Prestigious Award for Their Work in the Arts

A Bolivian immigrant, a muralist and a lifelong community volunteer are among this year’s recipients of the Saint Louis Visionary Awards.

The Visionary Awards celebrates local women who work in or support the arts in St. Louis. The 2020 honorees are: poet Pacia Elaine Anderson (Community Impact Artist), public artist Ellie Balk (Emerging Artist), muralist Kathryn Bentley (Outstanding Working Artist), Hispanic Festival’s Haniny Hillberg (Lifetime Achievement), longtime community volunteer Linda Lee (Major Contributor to the Arts) and Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis executive director Lisa Melandri (Outstanding Arts Professional).

“There are so many women in the region doing transformational work in the arts,” said Saint Louis Visionary Awards co-chair Sara Burke. “We couldn’t be more impressed with the 2020 honorees. They truly deserve this recognition.”

The awards ceremony takes place Monday, April 27, at the Sun Theatre in Grand Center. The program begins at 6 p.m., followed by a reception at 7 p.m. For tickets and sponsorship information, visit vizawards.org.
