Many of us are working from home due to COVID-19, and pajamas and messy hair are the new dress code.
And Zoom is the current way to conduct business meetings with co-workers and managers. There is no need to complete a full glam look for a short video conference on a low-quality laptop camera. Luckily, 5-minute makeup tutorials have been around for years, and they require minimal effort.
Here are a few of my favorites:
Naomi Campbell is a busy woman, and sometimes only has a few minutes to do her makeup. She skips the foundation and goes straight to the concealer, applying it with a triangle sponge to achieve an even skin tone. A natural contour, blush and eyebrow is key to achieve a full face with minimal makeup. She finishes the look with a nude gloss, and uses powder to set.
Jen Chae is a mother who is a pro at doing makeup in a short amount of time. She uses mineral makeup because of its natural finish, utilizing a tinted highlight that doubles as a blush and highlighter, and a shadow stick for quick application. A natural eyebrow and pair of faux lashes shape the face to complete the look.
Adrienne Bailon is the queen of a full glamorous look. This routine is very simple, only requiring a few products. She uses a foundation that doubles as a concealer to cover up trouble areas on her face. A moisturizing colored lip balm is a great way to bring some life to her lips. She wraps her hair before going to sleep to maintain her style and avoid heat damage.
Beauty influencer Kelly Strack uses a CC cream to hydrate while providing full coverage. She uses a concealer on her t-zone and recommends using a beauty blender for liquid products. An eyebrow pencil is the perfect tool to get precise lashes in a hurry. She utilizes a white eyelash primer pre-mascara to amplify lashes and spend less time on application. The look is complete with a shimmery highlighter and light pink gloss. Setting spray is the key for a long-lasting face.
Beauty guru Christen Dominique begins her routine with her eyebrows. She uses a brown pencil to quickly fill in with short wispy motions. A lightweight primer prepares the skin for makeup by moisturizing and smoothing pores. She applies highlight to her cheekbones before her foundation for a natural glow. Tinted moisturizer is used for minimal coverage. She lightly dusts a powder bronzer on her cheekbones and hairline. Blush adds a natural pop of color, and mascara opens up the eyes. Complete the look with a natural gloss, and you’re ready for the camera.
Beauty guru SunKissAlba starts her everyday look with a matte primer to prep the face for makeup. She uses BB cream, then dusts on a lightweight powder foundation to extend the lasting time. She uses minimal concealer and lightly blends it in with a beauty sponge. Translucent powder is perfect for women of color because it doesn’t leave an ashy finish. Highlighter is the key for a natural glow, and eyebrows are optional if you’re really in a hurry. Complete the look with a natural lip pencil and tinted balm.
