Pennydrop Bar + Kitchen at the Pennywell Hotel is launching a new dinner series, pairing a meticulously curated three-course dinner by executive chef Antoine Bailey with craft cocktails.
The first in the series will be a whiskey dinner in partnership with WhistlePig Whiskey on Thursday, Aug. 17, from 6 to 8 p.m.
With each course, a handcrafted cocktail made with WhistlePig Whiskey will be served, along with a neat pour of the whiskey highlighted in the drink for a true pairing experience. WhistlePig, based in Vermont, is known for its ultra-premium rye.
The evening’s menu by Bailey is as follows:
Amuse bouche | Piggyback Bourbon
- Vegetable Tartelette with Citrus Gel and Fine Herbs
- Yuzu Sour: Piggyback Bourbon, Yuzu, Lemon, Egg White Demerara
First Course | Piggyback Rye
- Spiced Seafood Risotto with Saffron and San Marzano Tomato
- Green Point: Piggyback Rye, Yellow Chartreuse, Carpano Antica Sweet Vermouth, Bitters
Second Course | WhistlePig 12-Year-Old Small-Batch Rye
- Braised Pork Agnolotti with Seasonal Vegetables, Whiskey Pan Sauce and Roasted Cauliflower Foam
- Preakness Manhattan: WhistlePig 12yr Small Batch Rye, Lillet Rosé, Cognac, Bénédictine D.O.M., Bitters
Third Course | WhistlePig 10-Year-Old Small-Batch Rye
- Bourbon and Cinnamon Panna Cotta with Barrel-Aged Candied Nuts, Macerated Fruit and Milk Chocolate Tuile
- There’s Always Money in the Banana Stand: WhistlePig 10yr Small Batch Rye Barrel Aged with All Spice, Clove, Cinnamon, Star Anise, Banana, Earl Grey
In addition, each guest will be treated to a bottle of barrel-aged WhistlePig Maple Syrup to take home.

The whiskey dinner is among a series of dining experiences planned in the coming months at the Pennydrop Bar + Kitchen. Also in the works are a tequila dinner in September, a bourbon dinner in October and wine dinners in the winter.
Pennydrop Bar + Kitchen is located inside the Pennywell Hotel (400 Olive St.), formerly the Hilton St. Louis Downtown at the Arch. The eight-story Greek Revival building at Olive and Fourth streets, best known as the Merchants-Laclede Building, was originally built in the 1880s as a bank and is on the National Register of Historic Places.
