Here’s a chicken fight we can all get behind: Fast-casual fried chicken sandwich restaurant Chicken Out has announced its inaugural “Fry’er Fest,” a food competition within a block party taking place at its Kirkwood location later this month.

For one night only from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 21, the event will bring together top local chefs and foodies to face off on three chicken-tender challenges based on spice, quantity and speed.

Highlights include a hot and spicy challenge with a special Anderson & Son Pepper Company sauce created exclusive for the event; an all-you-can-eat challenge; and a lightning speed round. Family friendly activities, giveaways and live music will also be on site.

Confirmed competitors include Strange Donuts’ Jason Bockman, Juniper chef Izzy Morse, Sugarfire Smokehouse chef Katy Kobylarek and more. Additional slots are also available for anyone interested in competing. To learn more about the contests, visit Chicken Out on Instagram @chickenoutchicken.

Fry’er Fest is free and open to the public, and will take place on the Chicken Out parking lot on Manchester Road in Kirkwood. Guests will have the opportunity to munch on a curated menu of complimentary “Flappetizers” from Chicken Out and its sister restaurants, including Hi-Pointe Drive-In and Sugarfire Smokehouse. The full Chicken Out will also be available for purchase inside the restaurant during the event.
