The Orchid Show is back in bloom at the Missouri Botanical Garden for the first time in three years.
The 2023 Orchid Show, from Jan. 28 to Feb. 26, will be held in the brand-new Emerson Conservatory.
Thousands of orchids in full bloom – from the Garden’s expansive and diverse orchid collection – will be featured. It’s expected the show will be constantly changing during its run, as different orchid species bloom at different times. When new orchids come into bloom, they will be brought out for display.
The Garden’s collection includes more than 6,000 individual plants representing approximately 700 unique and rare kinds of orchids (one in 10 orchids in the collection is threatened or endangered).
This is the first time the long-running Orchid Show will be presented in the Emerson Conservatory housed in the new Jack C. Taylor Visitor Center. The year-round conservatory, which opened late last year, showcases permanent displays of Mediterranean plants from South Africa, Australia and the Easter Mediterranean, many of them new to the Garden.
The Orchid Show, which is included with general Garden admission, is open during regular hours, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday. For a special lighted viewing of the show in the evening, Orchid Nights will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Feb. 9 and 23.
