Art Bounces ‘Off’ the Walls in Massive Mural Project in Grand Center

The works of 20 local, national and international artists create the backdrop for “The Walls Off Washington,” a massive public mural project in the Grand Center Arts District in Midtown St. Louis.

The latest art initiative from the Kranzberg Arts Foundation, The Walls Off Washington officially opens to the public on Friday, Oct. 7, as part of First Fridays at Grand Center.

The installation, showcasing an eclectic assortment of thought-provoking outdoor art – some created by internationally acclaimed artists – covers the span of a few walkable city blocks located between Josephine Baker Boulevard and North Leonard Avenue in the area behind Sophie’s Artist Lounge and the High Low, both Kranzberg Arts Foundation venues.

Artists participating in the mural project include Nina Chanel Abney, Derrick Adams, Cbabi Bayoc, Burlesque, C215, Phil Jarvis, Liz Markus, Hayveyah McGowan, Norm4eva, Pl@stic, Remix Uno, Carlos Rolón, Kenny Scharf, Simiya Sudduth, TASK, Tukeone, UMSL Mural Class, José Luis Vargas, Wendy White and Carlos Zamora.
