Soon, you’ll have another place to get your morning caffeine fix or afternoon pick-me-up: Goshen Coffee Roasters has announced it is opening its first St. Louis café in Soulard this spring.

The 20-year-old Metro East-based company, which recently announced a rebranding of its blends and packaging, is owned by Jennifer Hughey, along with her husband, Mike Bergen, and brother-in-law and sister, Jay and Julie Beard.

The new Goshen Coffee Café will be located at 910 Geyer Ave., the former site of the recently shuttered Soulard Coffee Garden. The company, whose signature café is in Edwardsville, Illinois, has plans to open other St. Louis-area cafés, but locations have not yet been announced.

Just like its original location in Edwardsville, Goshen’s new space in Soulard will feature the brand’s light, medium and dark roasted blends and single origins.

“With the rebranding, our amazing coffee stayed exactly the same and we did introduce our winter seasonal blend and two new single-origin coffees, Kenya Mbegu Ndogo and Ethiopia Yebesele Natural,” Hughey said. “Our current seasonal is Snow Days, and we will have a new anniversary blend coming later in the year.”

Goshen’s lineup also includes Bright Eyed Breakfast Blend, a vibrant light roast coffee with notes of brown sugar and almond; Bona Fide Blend, a medium roast coffee tasting of syrup, chocolate and dark berries; and Black Dog Espresso, a dark roast with the essence of roasted nuts, molasses and dark chocolate.

Goshen classifies its ethically sourced coffees as “Cultivate Trade,” with the company paying its growers sustainable wages at a 10% premium above what is considered fair trade.

The cafe’s menu offerings are made in-house, including all sauces and syrups. Its most popular specialty drinks are lattes and mochas, both iced and hot, as well as drip and cold brew coffee. Customer food favorites include banana bread, scones and coffee cake from a recipe Hughey’s mother has been making for 40 years. Burritos, salads and a variety of creatively topped toasts are also on the daily menu.

Goshen Coffee can also be found at local grocers Schnucks, Dierbergs and Straub’s, as well as Whole Foods and Fresh Thyme. For more information visit the Goshen Coffee website.
