Theatre, dance and live music return to the forefront in March, with a stellar dramedy at The Rep, Willy Wonka’s world of pure imagination come to life at the Fabulous Fox, a quarter-century celebration of a worldwide dance phenomenon, and a sensational musical lineup under The Big Top in Grand Center.

Award-winning playwright Lydia R. Diamond brings us the story of the LeVay family, whose annual summer vacation to Martha’s Vineyard is thrown into a state of disarray when long-standing tensions and secret revelations threaten already-fragile relationships. The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis’ current production explores class, race and generational dynamics in this smartly written dramedy. The Black Rep’s Ron Himes leads the cast as the family patriarch alongside Ricardy Fabre, Bobbi Johnson, Blair Lewin, Deshawn Mitchell and Amber Williams. Chanel Bragg directs.

The magical, mystical world of Willy Wonka comes to life in Roald Dahl’s “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.” Young Charlie Bucket is among five other golden ticket winners to embark on a life-changing journey through the world of pure imagination – Wonka’s whimsical factory of Oompa-Loompas, incredible inventions, the Chocolate Room and the great glass elevator. The hit Broadway musical features songs from the original film, including “Pure Imagination,” “The Candy Man” and “I’ve Got a Golden Ticket,” alongside a new score composed by the songwriters from “Hairspray.”

Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day early with an Irish jig (or two!) and tap your toes to the Grammy Award-winning score of the Riverdance 25th Anniversary Show! The brand-new production has a high-energy, thrilling cast of performers that includes lead dancers, tappers and Flamenco dancers, as well as TikTok sensations Matthew and Michael Gardiner, and Morgan Bullock, whose performance of Megan Thee Stallion’s “Savage Remix” went viral on the platform in 2020. The cast also features – for the first time – children of original Riverdance cast members, Cian Porter and Faith Moore.

WHAT: THE LOT CONCERT SERIES

The popular concert series, “The Lot,” by local concert promoter Jamo is moving to The Big Top this year and brings with it a lineup of national, regional and local acts. First up is the five-piece, soul-jazz-funk band, Greyboy Allstars, from San Diego. The Big Top in Grand Center will be transformed into a custom layout for every concert, with seated areas and room for dancing, as well as additional space outside of the tent for yard games, picnic tables and chairs. Additional acts will be announced in the coming weeks, with the 2022 series concluding in November.
