What would you do if you discovered that a mysterious being lurks in your home, and she demands to be fed—a lot! That’s the premise of “Feeding Beatrice,” the quirky, creepy play making its world premiere this week as the opener of the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis’ studio season.

Imagine this: It starts with the sound of a spoon scraping against glass, and the wet noise of lips smacking together. That’s the dilemma facing June and Lurie, who find out they have a haunting new houseguest – and she’s ravenously hungry. They do their best to keep her fed and happy, but Beatrice always demands more. As she burrows deeper and deeper into their lives, the couple faces a horrific question: What will it cost to exorcise Beatrice forever? $46 to $71; repstl.org
