See and Be Seen: The Black Rep’s 46th Anniversary Gala

Friends and supporters of The Black Rep gathered this weekend for the 46th Anniversary Gala, which featured a rousing concert from the Morehouse College Glee Club that brought the audience to their feet.

The Black Rep founder and producing director Ron Himes was among those welcoming guests to the 560 Music Center, where the evening began with a VIP cocktail hour. It was followed by an awards program in recognition of several individuals, including Charlotte Ottley and Joe Madison (Frankie Muse Freeman Spirit Award recipients), Woodie King Jr. (President’s Award recipient), and LaTanya Richardson Jackson and Joneal Joplin (Woodie King Jr. Lifetime Achievement Award recipients).

From the time the Morehouse College Glee Club took the stage to the concert’s final notes, the chorale enraptured the audience with a stirring and uplifting repertoire that earned them several standing ovations throughout the evening.

A lively post-concert reception concluded the evening.

Shanti Parikh and Denny Reagan served as event co-chairs; Stephen McKinley Henderson was honorary chair.

Gazelle proudly served as media sponsor for The Black Rep’s 46th Anniversary Gala.
