There are many ways to show and share your love.
Valentine’s Day – which most everyone knows is Feb. 14 – happens to also be National Donor Day, and for many people, it serves as a reminder to take the opportunity to share their love with the community.
In addition to celebrating Valentine’s Day with your significant other, children and family, here are a few ways to recognize National Donor Day, as well:
You can register to be an organ, eye or tissue donor at organdonor.gov or visit your local Dept. of Motor Vehicles location. Registration is easy and quick.
Donate blood. Participate in local blood drives or contact the American Red Cross or a local blood center, which is always in need of blood, platelets and plasma. According to ARC, plasma from whole blood donations that test positive for COVID-19 antibodies may now help current coronavirus patients in need of convalescent plasma transfusions.
Discuss the idea of blood and organ donation with friends, family and co-workers to help spread the word on how many people it can help. The U. S. government website, organdonor.gov is also full of information relating to organ donation and transplantation.
