From the Gateway Arch, newly designated as the Show-Me-State’s official monument, to the soon-to-open Food Hall at City Foundry STL in Midtown, St. Louisans have a lot to be excited about.

Today, there’s another reason to celebrate: TIME Magazine, citing the city’s “reinvigorated downtown,” has named St. Louis as one of its “Greatest Places in 2021.”

According to the publication, which released its findings July 20, the Gateway City “boasts a number of noteworthy happenings in 2021,” including new dining destinations such as Casa Don Alfonso, the Italian eatery by Michelin-star chef Mario Iaccarino at The Ritz-Carlton; and City Foundry STL (“the area’s first true food hall, serving everything from Argentine empanadas to dosas and Bombay sliders”).

Also mentioned are the city’s “flashy” hotel openings, Le Méridien St. Louis Downtown and 21c Museum Hotel St. Louis, as well as the highly anticipated St. Louis  City SC soccer stadium and the Brickline Greenway, which will connect pedestrians and cyclists from Forest Park to the Gateway Arch.
