Downtown St. Louis will once again be the site of the annual Veterans Day Parade this Saturday, Nov. 6.
The 38th annual St. Louis Regional Veterans Day Observance, a joint effort by the Soldiers Memorial Military Museum (operated by the Missouri Historical Society) and the City of St. Louis, begins at 10:30 a.m. and proceed down Market Street to Soldiers Memorial.
Following the parade, a ceremony featuring grand marshal and keynote speaker Maj. Gen. Heidi Hoyle and a celebration with “Starlifter” (USAF Band of Mid-America) will take place at Soldiers Memorial. Starlifter is a seven-piece group of active-duty Airmen-musicians. The group performs a wide range of musical styles, including rock, pop, jazz and country, as well as traditional patriotic songs.
Maj. Gen. Hoyle served as the 242nd Ordnance Battalion (EOD) Executive Officer at Fort Carson, Colorado, with deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. She was also selected for command of the Special Troops Battalion of the 3rd Sustainment Brigade, Fort Stewart, Georgia, with deployment to Iraq in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and New Dawn. Her most recent assignment was Chief of Ordnance and Commandant, U.S. Army Ordnance School, Fort Lee, Virginia.
