Library Rides the Wave of Pickleball’s Popularity

The next time you’re at the library, it’s game on!

Pickleball Kits are now available for check out at the St. Louis County Library with a valid library card.

Pickleball has gained popularity in recent years among players of all ages and skill levels due to its accessibility and ease of learning. The game is played on a court comparable in size to a doubles badminton court with a paddle and plastic ball similar to tennis, badminton and ping-pong.

Kits are available to be checked out at any St. Louis County Library branch for 21 days. Each kit consists of four graphite pickleball paddles, four balls (two for indoor and two for outdoor play) and a carrying case.

St. Louis was awarded its own Major League Pickleball team, the St. Louis Shock, earlier this year. For more information about pickleball in St. Louis, including a list of courts in the area, visit the St. Louis Pickleball website.
